Lawrence Taylor is arguably the greatest defensive player in NFL history, a one man wrecking crew who revolutionized pass rushing. Throughout his 13 NFL seasons, the New York Giants standout accumulated 132.5 sacks despite the statistic not existing his rookie season. Taylor led the Giants to two Super Bowl titles, and even accomplished the nearly impossible feat of winning the NFL MVP award as a defensive player. In 1999, the former UNC Tar Heel was elected to the National Football Hall of Fame.
This painted home plate shows Taylor doggedly chasing after Joe Theismann. Theismann was the recipient of a Taylor sack that broke the QB’s lower leg, ending his professional career. Taylor signed the plate in black marker. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58635).
