Presented here is a collection of six home plates signed by legendary third baseman Mike Schmidt. A lifelong Phillie, Schmidt won three National League MVP Awards during his 18 year career, which saw him hit a whopping 548 home runs. Schmidt was the star hitter on the Phillies 1980 World Series winning team, the first championship squad in Philadelphia Phillies history. Schmidt, who retired in 1989, was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995, in his first year of eligibility. Three of these home plates have been signed in black marker, while the remaining three have been signed in gold marker. Schmidt inscribed his career home run total, “548”, on each base. These items come with individual COAs from JSA (S31933 through S31938).
