2017 October Legends Closing November 11

In the first four seasons of the 1960’s, no player from a team other than the New York Yankees won the American League MVP Award. Roger Maris claimed the trophy in ’60 and ’61, with Mickey Mantle picking up the slack in ’62, and the eternally underrated Elston Howard finishing the Yankee quartet in 1963. The Yankees participated in every World Series from 1960 through 1964, winning two thanks to the strong hitting of their three Most Valuable Players. Since their retirements, Howard and Maris have become integral parts of the New York Yankees’ folklore.
Maris has signed the sweet spot of this baseball in black pen. On the panel to the south of the sweet spot, Howard applied his signature in blue pen. The signatures of Maris and Howard on this tan stitched ball are faded, but remain very readable. This baseball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (V04084), who state that “there are indications of faded signatures and/or writing throughout the baseball”.
