Presented here is a postcard signed by Lou Gehrig. One of the greatest hitters in baseball history, Gehrig put up videogame statistics when video was a new medium. Gehrig put together 13 consecutive seasons of 100+ RBI during his career, which spanned from 1923 to 1939. His 185 RBI in 1931 remains the second highest mark of all-time. Gehrig is perhaps best known for his consecutive games played streak, as well as the tragic way his streak ended. Gehrig was forced to retire in 1939, and was inducted into Cooperstown in a special election that same year. Gehrig signed this postcard, which is dated to 1937, in gray pencil. He added the inscription “Best Wishes Charles”. This item has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (83359093).
