Chuck Klein was one of the brightest stars in baseball during his brief prime. A hitter who combined power, speed, and an impeccable eye at the plate, Klein lead the National League in home runs in four of his first five full Major League seasons. In 1930, the Philadelphia Phillie had one of the greatest seasons in baseball history, hitting 40 home runs with 170 RBI and 59 doubles. He slashed an incredible .386/.436/.687 and tallied 445 total bases, the fourth highest total in major league history. In 1932, Klein became the last person to lead the National League in home runs and stolen bases in the same season. In 1980, Klein was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee.

Klein is pictured here signing his first contract with the Chicago Cubs after being acquired from the Phillies for Mark Koenig, Harvey Hendrick, Ted Kleinhans, and the princely sum of $65,000. Klein is surrounded by William Walker, Phillip K. Wrigley, and Charley Grimm. Klein signed the top of this 6 ½ x 6 ½ inch photograph in black pen. A copy of the newspaper article that used this photograph is attached to the back of the photo. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (Z05689).
