Presented here is an original George Woodruff photograph of Ted Williams signed by “The Splendid Splinter” himself. Williams, one of the best pure hitters in baseball history, won six batting titles during his 19-season career with the Red Sox. None was more important than 1941, when Williams became the last player to eclipse a .400 batting average. Williams’ career accolades are myriad, and include two MVP awards, two Triple Crowns, and a staggering 19 All-Star appearances. In 1966, Williams was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
This 8 x 10 inch, black and white photograph shows Williams at the end of his iconic swing. Williams is wearing his Red Sox home whites, and is standing a dirt portion of a baseball field. Williams has signed this picture in blue fountain pen and is a great vintage 1950's signature. The reverse side of the picture features a stamp that reads “By George Woodruff / Boston”. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58563).
