Presented here is an index card signed by longtime American League umpire Thomas H. Connolly. Connolly began his career in the National League, but joined the Junior Circuit during its first season in 1901, serving as one of its most well-respected umpires in baseball until 1931. Connolly was an umpire in eight World Series, as well as being the only American League official in the very first Fall Classic. Connolly was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953, and along with Bill Klem was one of the first two umpires honored with induction. He signed this cut in black pen.
