     Presented here are four government post cards signed by Hall of Fame baseball players. The first has been signed by Rabbit Maranville, a slick fielding shortstop who played 23 seasons in the National League. Maranville collected 2,605 hits in a career spent in Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis, and Brooklyn. Maranville was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1954. He signed this post card in black pen, adding the inscription “Yours in Sports” to his signature. This signed postcard comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58569).

     The next post card has been signed by Kid Nichols, a deadball era twirler who played primarily for the Boston Beaneaters. Nichols debuted in 1890, and won 20 or more games in each of his first 10 seasons, including seven seasons of 30 or more wins. Nichols retired in 1906 having won 361 games in his illustrious career. Nichols was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1949, signed this postcard in 1952, and passed away in 1953. He signed the back of this postcard in blue pen as “Charles ‘Kid’ Nichols”, adding the inscription, “With my best wishes” to his signature. This signed postcard comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58567).

     The third post card has been signed by Hugh Duffy, a feared slugger during the deadball era. He had the best season of his career in 1894, when the Boston Beaneaters outfielder led the National League in home runs (18) and batting average (.440), while knocking in 145 RBI, scoring 160 runs, and stealing 48 bases. Duffy was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945. He signed this post card in black pen, adding the inscription “Red Sox Coach” to his signature. This signed postcard comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58568).

     The final post card has the signature of Dazzy Vance, the 1924 National League MVP. Vance accumulated 197 wins over his 16 season career, with every victory earned after his 31st birthday. Vance retired in 1935, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955. He signed this post card in black pen, adding the inscription “Sorry have no pictures / with kind regards / A.C. ‘Dazzy’ Vance”. This signed postcard comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58570).
