After swiping 33 bases in just 89 games in 1979, Rickey Henderson reached the 100 stolen base plateau in only his second season in the Majors. All season long Henderson proved over and over why he was the most exciting player to come around in decades. He sparked the A’s to a second place finish, surpassing everyone’s preseason expectations, proving what a difference one player can make to a ball club.

This bat dates to Rickey’s first couple of seasons in the majors, 1980 through 1983. Louisville Slugger C243 model bat shows heavy use and has a small crack on the handle. There are several ball marks with stitch impressions on the barrel and many abrasions. The stunning natural color bat with an ash finish makes this bat all the more impressive. The handle has been taped in white tape with a criss-cross pattern to enhance the grip and “35” has been hand written in black marker on the knob end. This is a very attractive gamer from one of the most exciting players from the beginning of his Hall of Fame career. While later career bats for Rickey can be found in fairly large numbers, early career lumber is decidedly difficult to obtain. This bat comes with a LOA from MEARS (315506) who have graded this bat a perfect A10.
