Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Tony Gwynn was the National League’s hit king. 1999 saw Mr. Padre knocking on the door of the 3,000 Hit Club. This Louisville Slugger model B267 bat was used by Gwynn to during the 1999 season. The bat displays excellent use with a crack on the top of the barrel. The barrel also displays checking (grain swelling) from repeated contact, along with several ball marks, stitch impressions and blue ink transfers. The lower handle has been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and a light coat of pine tar is on the upper handle. Gwynn’s number “19” is on the knob and barrel ends along with the model number (B267) in black marker. The model number “B267”, length “33” and weight “30 1/2” are hand written on the knob in black marker. The Hall of Famer has signed his name boldly on the barrel in black marker above the “B267” stamping. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14583) for the game use, with a grade of GU 9 and a LOA from JSA (Z58690) for his signature.
