What can you say about George Foster? Even on a team made up of larger than life personalities – Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Ken Griffey – Foster stood out as the power behind the Big Red Machine. Though the team is best remembered for winning the 1975 series against Boston, the 1976 edition was even stronger, sweeping the Yankees in four games.
Foster used this bat during that 1976 season in which he led the National League in runs batted in. This special Bicentennial Louisville Slugger carries the “1776-1976 National Pastime” Liberty Bell logo on the barrel between the H&B brand mark and the embossed George Foster signature. This Hillerich & Bradsby P72 model bat shows excellent use and is cracked on the barrel. There is checking or grain swelling visible on the barrel from repeated ball contact. Foster has signed the bat’s barrel in silver marker, completing this unique Bicentennial bat. The bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14596) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8. There is also a COA from JSA (S31960) for the signature.
