1954 must have been a good year for Harmon Killebrew. The big slugger appeared in his first Major League ball games, at the young age only 18, hitting .308 with three RBI in only 13 plate appearances. Despite not hitting a home run, a staggering 573 blasts would await Killebrew during the remaining 21 seasons of his Hall of Fame career.

Killebrew was also awarded this Elgin wristwatch by the Kiwanis Club in 1954, a testament to his strong moral character and prominence in Washington, D.C. The watch is engraved on the back of the face with “Kiwanis / Good Citizenship Award 1954 / Harmon Killebrew”. The back is stamped with “10K Gold RGP Bezel / Stainless Steel Back”. It is in lovely condition, and is a priceless memento from the very beginning of Killebrew’s legendary MLB career.
