Hall of Fame leftfielder Ted Williams wore this uniform when he served as an extra instructor during the Red Sox 1983 Spring Training. Williams, whose playing career is one of the most remarkable in the history of the sport, retired in 1960 and began serving as a special instructor shortly afterward. In 1969, Williams took the reins of the Washington Senators, managing them from 1969 through 1971, and in 1972 when they moved south and became the Texas Rangers. After a short break, Williams resumed his role as a Red Sox instructor, appearing at Spring Training numerous times to mold new Red Sox hitters.

This jersey is a white, button down home jersey with “RED SOX” sewn across the chest in red and navy blue tackle twill. Williams’ number “9”, which was retired by the Sox in 1984, is sewn on the back in red and navy blue tackle twill. Red piping adorns the chest of the jersey. Wilson size “50” and “83” tags are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. Also included are Williams’ home pants.

The pants have red piping running down the sides and a Wilson size “42” tag on the back inside waistband. Additionally, “9 26” and “83” tags are present on the waistband. Williams’ number “9” is written on the front of the waistband twice in black marker. Finally, Williams’ XL McAuliffe long sleeved undershirt is offered. It is cream colored with navy blue three-quarters length sleeves and three buttons on the upper chest. “WILLIAMS” and “9” are written on the back of the shirt in black marker. These items come with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
