The 1976 Cincinnati Reds represented a dynasty at the height of its power. The “Big Red Machine” was running on all cylinders as diminutive second baseman Joe Morgan ran away with the National League MVP award for the second straight season. Two more Reds, George Foster and Pete Rose, also found themselves in the top four of the MVP race. The Reds won 102 games in ’76, cruising to the National League West Division title with a 10-game cushion over the Los Angeles Dodgers. They continued their stellar play throughout the postseason, dispatching the Phillies in a three game NLCS and sweeping the Yankees to claim the World Series title.
This bat features the facsimile signatures of over 25 members of the ’76 Reds. Players such as Rose, Morgan, Johnny Bench, Pat Zachry, Ken Griffey Sr., George Foster, and Cesar Geronimo are represented on Hillerich and Bradsby bat. The bat is etched with green text that reads “Cincinnati Reds / World Champions / 1976”. Additionally, a gold bicentennial logo is applied to the barrel.
