Kenesaw Mountain Landis was the first man to assume the mantle of Commissioner of Baseball, brought in to stabilize the rickety sport in the wake of the Black Sox scandal of 1919. A former judge with a burning desire for law and order, Landis made tough, and some would say often unfair, rulings with the goal of stabilizing baseball. Landis served as commissioner from his election in 1920 until his death in 1944, shortly after which he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. This cut signature is matted in an 8 ½ x 11 inch display, and is signed in black pen. It comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58648).
