In 1975 the Cincinnati Reds were at the height of their “Big Red Machine” heyday. Managed by the nigh-mythical Sparky Anderson, the Reds high-powered offense ground their National League competition into submission by winning 108 regular season games, finishing 20 games over the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League West crown. The Reds stormed to a 3-0 NLCS victory over their rival Pittsburgh Pirates before encountering a stacked Boston Red Sox team in the World Series. In what would become an instant classic World Series, the Reds eked out a victory in seven games. Of the seven contests, only two were decided by more than one run, a 6-0 Red Sox victory and a 6-2 Reds win.

Feeney baseball has been signed by 23 members of the 1975 Reds, including Hall of Famers Joe Morgan, the recipient of the 1975 NL MVP Award, Johnny Bench, and Sparky Anderson. Anderson and Ted Kluszewski, a coach for the Reds at the time, have signed the sweet spot of this ball.
