Eric Lindros was one of the most highly regarded prospects in NHL history, a rangy power forward with a deft scoring touch and unparalleled physical skills. The first overall pick in the 1991 Draft by the Quebec Nordiques, Lindros’ refusal to play for owner Marcel Aubut saw him traded, in one of the biggest blockbuster deals in sports history, to the Philadelphia Flyers. It was with the Flyers in 1996-97 that Lindros wore this white Bauer helmet. Lindros, limited by injury to only 52 games, nevertheless tied for the Flyers team lead with 47 assists, chipping in an additional 32 goals for a total of 79 points. Lindros led the Flyers to a playoff appearance in 1996-97, where they advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals before bowing out to the Detroit Red Wings. Lindros led all players in scoring during the playoffs, notching 12 goals and 14 assists in only 19 games.
This white Bauer helmet features Bauer decals on the front, back, and each side, with the logo present on the left side of the crown slightly ripped. Flyers logo decals are present on each side, and Lindros’ number “88”, which will be retired during the 2017-18 season, is applied to the back of the helmet. Several pieces of the foam padding on the inside of the helmet are detached. Lindros signed the top of the helmet in black marker. This item comes with a COA from JSA (S31917) for the signature, and a LOA from MeiGray, who assert that the helmet was used during practices and games during the 1996-1997 season.
