Hall of Fame slugger Reggie Jackson wore this undershirt on April 27th, 1982, when his California Angels visited on the New York Yankees, the team he had spent the previous half decade with. Jackson hit the 426th home run of his career that day, taking a Ron Guidry offering deep in the top of the seventh inning of a shortened game. Later, Jackson presented the undershirt he wore during the game to Bill Madden, a long-time New York Daily-News sportswriter and a member of the BWAA. This undershirt, a poly-cotton mix, has “400 Club” screen printed on the front and “44” on the back in white. Jackson signed the second “4”, adding “4/29/82” to his signature. On the first “4”, Jackson wrote “To Bill / a friend and I ain’t got too many / #426”. The signature and inscription are both written in blue pen. This item comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for game use, a LOA from JSA (Z45714) for the signature, and a Letter of Provenance from Bill Madden.
