2017 October Legends Closing November 11
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/12/2017
As avid Type I collectors can attest, this offering is a very big deal. First and foremost, of course, it's Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Secondly, it's their annus mirabilis of 1927. Thirdly, it's an extremely rare image from their legendary post-championship barnstorming tour. Fourthly, the overall condition and clarity are impeccable. And fifthly, it has the iron-clad authenticity of PSA/DNA's LOA from expert Henry Yee. Need more? BOTH fabled teams, the Bustin' Babes and Larrupin' Lous, are represented (in their charmingly iconic uniforms), as is superagent Christy Walsh. Plus, Ruth and Gehrig are being honored with huge bouquets of flowers. Not to mention that this isn't even a widely distributed news-service photo, but rather a fine studio photo captured by a local Oakland photographer. Who could ask for anything more?! Dimensions are 6 3/8 x 9 1/8 inches. It’s wonderfully preserved, with only routine light surface wear and the M.J. Cohen studio stamp on reverse. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1P07198) and has been classified as a Type I photograph.
