Presented here is a typed letter with a handwritten note from Cy Young. The winningest pitcher of all-time, Young’s 511 career wins stand nearly 100 greater than the man in second place on the all-time list. In 1940, when this letter was written, the 73-year-old was living on a farm in rural Ohio, near the town of Peoli. The man who sent this letter, a Mr. Donald Campbell, sent Young a picture to sign, as well as a request for Grover Cleveland Alexander’s home address. In Young’s reply, which is scrawled on the bottom of this typed letter, the former ace says he has “no way of giving Alexander’s address”. Alexander finished the letter by signing “Yours / Cy Young / Peoli”. He used a black pen to write his inscription and signature. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (X84477).
