Presented here is a baseball signed by 26 members of the 1962 Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates, despite notching 93 wins on the season, finished the year in fourth place in the National League. Offensively, they were led by Roberto Clemente and Bob Skinner, while a pitching staff of Bob Friend and Al McBean routinely shut down National League batsmen.
This Official National League Warren Giles baseball features the signature of team manager Danny Murtaugh on the sweet spot. It should be noted that JSA has deemed this signature a clubhouse version, a common practice at the time. Other signatures on this baseball include Clemente, Bill Mazeroski, Smokey Burgess, Diomedes Olivo, Don Hoak, Harvey Haddix, Vern Law, Donn Clendenon, Dick Groat, Earl Francis, Bob Skinner, Al McBean, Virgil Trucks, Jack Lamabe, Bill Virdon, and several more. The signatures have been written in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Y24447).
