Presented here is a San Diego Padres batting helmet autographed by the best and most important player in franchise history, Tony Gwynn. A preternaturally skilled hitter, Gwynn claimed eight National League batting titles en route to membership in the vaunted 3,000 hit club. In 1994, Gwynn put together one of the most credible runs at a .400 batting average since Ted Williams hit the mark in 1941. 110 games into the season Gwynn was hitting for a mind-bending .394 average before a players strike wiped out the remainder of the campaign. Undeterred by the unfortunate circumstances, Gwynn proceeded to win the next three National League batting crowns. Gwynn retired in 2001, and was honored with induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

This helmet is navy blue, with a flap over the right ear. The Padres “SD” logo is applied to the front of the size 73/8 Rawlings authentic helmet. Gwynn signed the brim in silver marker, adding the inscription “HOF 07” to his crisp signature. This item comes with a COA from JSA (W239790).
