Presented here is a baseball signed by Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby. A two-time Triple Crown winner, Hornsby also collected seven batting titles and two National League MVP awards. Few second basemen of any era can match Hornsby’s accomplishments, which include 301 home runs and the second highest batting average (.358) of all-time. Hornsby cleared the .400 mark in batting average three times, including in 1924, when he hit for an almost unbelievable .424 average. In 1926, as the player-manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, Hornsby led the team to a World Series championship.
Hornsby signed the sweet spot of this J. de Beer and Son Major League baseball in blue pen. He added the inscription “To Arthur Meyer / From Rogers Hornsby / 1962” to his pristine signature. Hornsby was a scout and third base coach for the fledgling New York Mets in 1962 before he passed away on January 5th, 1963. This baseball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (V02560).
