Presented here is a baseball signed by legendary New York Yankee Roger Maris. Maris was one of the best players in baseball for those championship Yankees’ teams in the early 1960s, winning the American League MVP Award in 1960 and 1961. In 1960 he hit 39 home runs and 112 RBI, setting the stage for his legendary chase of Babe Ruth’s single season mark in the summer of 1961. Maris clubbed a new Major League record 61 home runs in 1961, running away with the AL MVP Award. Although injuries limited Maris’ production after these two magnificent years, his impact on the game is indelible and will be remembered for centuries to come.
Maris signed this Official National League Charles S. Feeney baseball to the right of the National League President’s stamped signature in black pen. He added the inscription “April 1, 1971”. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AD05015), who have graded both the ball and the signature an 8, for an overall grade of NM-MT 8 and a LOA from the original owner.
