Relief pitcher Phil Regan wore this Chicago Cubs road jersey in 1970, his third season with the North Side baseball club. Regan served as the team’s primary closer in 1970, finishing 40 games and picking up 12 saves in a total of 54 appearances. An early closer, Regan was given the nickname “The Vulture” by his former Dodger teammate Sandy Koufax in honor of his knack for finishing ballgames.

This gray flannel jersey is a button down, with “Chicago” sewn across the chest in blue tackle twill. Regan’s number “27” is sewn on the front and back of the jersey in blue tackle twill. A Cubs logo is sewn on the left sleeve. A Wilson size “44” tag is sewn on the front left tail, with “1970” embroidered above it. A “27-70-1-44” swatch is sewn on the back inside collar of the jersey. Six holes are located on each underarm area for ventilation. Regan signed the front of the jersey in black marker beneath his number “27”. This jersey, which shows moderate use, comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for game use, and a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC02960) for the signature.
