Barry Bonds put up video game numbers in leading the San Francisco Giants to the 2002 National League pennant. While winning the National League Most Valuable Player Award, Bonds also won the batting crown, hitting .370. Mix in 46 home runs, 110 RBIs, 117 runs scored, and a mind-boggling 198 walks and Bonds produced a season for the ages. Jeff Kent had a wonderful season in his own right, batting .313 with 37 HRs and 108 RBIs. Five different starting pitchers won at least 12 games and closer Robb Nen saved 43 games to go along with a 2.20 ERA. The Giants won 95 games during the regular season and defeated the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals in the playoffs, before falling to the Anaheim Angels in the World Series in seven games.
