St. Louis Cardinals catcher Pat Corrales wore this jersey during the 1966 MLB season. Corrales alternated between the major and minor leagues in 1966, playing in 28 games for a Cardinals ballclub managed by Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst. The Red Birds finished 83-79, gearing up for their World Series championship season in 1967. Corrales would spend only this season with the Cardinals, before moving to Cincinnati to back up Johnny Bench and a final season and a half with the San Diego Padres. Later, Corrales would manage in the Major League for nine seasons.
This jersey is an off-white, button down flannel home jersey with “Cardinals” and St. Louis’ iconic birds-on-a-bat logo chenille stitched on the front in red and yellow. Corrales’ number “7” is sewn on the front and back of the jersey in red and navy blue felt. “CORRALES” is sewn on the back shoulders of the jersey in similarly colored felt. Both the numbers and the name have been professionally restored, matching the exact specifications of a 1966 Cardinals' jersey. A Rawlings size “42” tag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey above a tag with washing instructions. Between the two tags, “66” is embroidered in red. The underarm areas of this jersey are vented to better handle the St. Louis heat. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema, who is of the opinion that this jersey is an original.
