After spending his first 11 full seasons with the Oakland Athletics, former slugger Mark McGwire was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals at the trade deadline in 1997. McGwire was already having an outstanding year with the A’s with 34 home runs and 81 RBI, and in the 51 games for the Cardinals to close out the season, hit 24 home runs and drove in 42.

McGwire used this Rawlings MAC25 model bat during his late-season stint with Cardinals. Showing outstanding use, this bat has a crack in the handle and has many ball marks and stitch impressions on the barrel. There are cleat marks, red bat rack streaks and blue ink transfers also on the barrel. There is a moderate coating of pine tar on the upper and lower handle and the model number “MAC25”, order number “634” and year “97” have been stamped on the knob. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12974) and has been graded a GU 8.
