Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Bob Meusel made up the meat of the Yankees Murderer’s Row lineup in the late 1920’s, while Herb Pennock was the glue that held the starting rotation together. In the peak season of the Murderer’s Row lineup, the 1927 campaign, Meusel, Gehrig, and Ruth combined for an unheard of 441 RBI in a 110-win season that ended with a four game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. Not to be outdone, the staid Pennock won 19 regular season games and dominated Game 3 of the World Series, throwing a three-hit complete game in the Yankees 8-1 victory. In retirement, Ruth, Gehrig, and Pennock have all been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, while legions of dedicated Yankee fans have campaigned for Meusel’s induction for years.

This Official American League E.S. Barnard baseball features the signature of Ruth immaculately placed on his customary sweet spot location. Meusel and Gehrig’s signatures are located to the left of the sweet spot on this toned baseball, while Pennock’s signature is placed on the panel directly north of the sweet spot. The signatures have all been written in sharp black fountain pen. This baseball comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A82390).
