New York Yankees Hall of Fame manager and the 1971 National League MVP Joe Torre wore this batting practice manager’s jersey sometime during the first several years of his tenure with the Yankees, from 1996 to 1999. Torre was an instant success in the Bronx, leading the Bombers to the 1996, ’98, ’99, and 2000 World Series titles and winning the AL East in all but two of his 12 seasons in New York. In those two seasons, Torre led the Yankees to second place finishes. Torre was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014 via the Veteran’s Committee.
This jersey is a navy mesh button down, with a white tackle twill “NY” logo sewn on the left breast. The sleeve openings are ringed with a white and navy blue band, while a navy blue Majestic logo is sewn on the right sleeve. Torre’s number “6” is sewn on the back of the jersey in white tackle twill. A Majestic tag with a size “48” flag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. This jersey comes with a LOA from Steiner Sports.
