Shibe Park was the home of the Philadelphia Phillies and Athletics from 1909 to 1953, when it was renamed Connie Mack Stadium in honor of the owner and longtime manager of the Philadelphia Athletics. Originally, Shibe Park was named in honor of Ben Shibe, the owner and president of the A’s who invented the automated stitching machine used to manufacture uniform and standardized baseballs. The A’s were the tenants of Shibe Park from its opening in 1909 until their move to Kansas City, while the Phillies inhabited the steel-and-concrete grounds until the end of the 1970 season.

     This seat is made of metal and wood, and is painted in a dusty mauve color. It is mounted on a wooden, “H” shaped stand. A commemorative gold plaque is affixed to one of the slats of the seat. The number “30” is painted in yellow on the top slat of the seat. This item is in terrific condition.
