An absolutely tremendous bat used by Gary Carter during his 1975 rookie season with Montreal. Although he had a few at bats during the end of the 1974 season, 1975 was “The Kid’s” first full season in the big leagues. Carter hit a solid .270 with 17 homers and was voted the National League’s Rookie of the Year.
PSA/DNA has determined this offered bat to be a 1975 Carter model due to the presence of his number “8” on the knob. Carter was issued with number “57” during 1974 and he switch to his familiar “8” the following season. The Hillerich & Bradsby K55 model bat is un-cracked and shows outstanding use. There is slight checking from repeated ball contact on the back barrel and the checking has been coated with urethane. There are black ink transfers from the ball marks and red bat rack streaks are visible. Carter’s immortal number “8” has been hand written on the knob. The bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B10785) for the game use and has been graded a GU 8.5.
