Mark Brunell, the most prolific passer in Jacksonville Jaguars history, wore this jersey during the Jags 1997 season. Brunell was clinically efficient in 1997, leading the Jaguars to an 11-5 record in only their third season as a franchise. The former University of Washington signal caller threw for 3,281 yards and 18 touchdowns in his 14 games, against only seven interceptions.
This teal home jersey has Brunell’s number “8” sewn on the chest, back, and sleeves in white, gold, and black tackle twill. “BRUNELL” is sewn across the back of the jersey in white, gold, and black tackle twill over a teal nameplate. Each sleeve features a Jaguar logo patch below a white Nike swoosh. The sides feature a black stripe. A “97 – 48” tag is sewn on the back inside collar, while a NFL Pro Line tag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. “9/22/97” and “PITT” are written on the tag in black marker. Brunell signed the “8” on the back in black marker, adding the inscription “Game Used 9/22/17”. Brunell led the Jaguars to a 30-21 victory against the Steelers that day, passing for 306 yards and a touchdown. This jersey shows light use, and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema, who authenticates this jersey to use during the 1997 season, not a specific game. Additionally, this item comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature (C42239).
