One of the greatest hitters of his generation, only a series of unfortunate injuries kept Ken Griffey Jr. from threatening Barry Bonds as the All-Time Home Run King. Despite the run of bad luck, however, Griffey still put together a career so impressive that he recently broke Tom Seaver’s 24-year old record with the highest percentage of votes received for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame (437/440 votes, 99.32%). This Seattle Mariners home jersey was worn by Griffey during the 1998 MLB season, a campaign in which Junior hit 56 home runs and drove in 146 while stealing 20 bases and batting .284.
This Russell Athletic size 46 button down jersey features "MARINERS" arched across the front of the jersey in navy blue and green tackle twill with silver stitching and has navy blue piping that runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons. "GRIFFEY" is sewn on in navy blue and green on a matching white nameplate and his "24" are sewn on the back of the jersey. The Russell Athletic logo patch is sewn on the right sleeve and the Mariner's logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve. The manufacturer's tag and team tag "1998" are sewn on the bottom right front tail, along with “100% POLYESTER” and “2” EXTRA BODY LENGTH” flags. Griffey added his signature to this jersey in blue marker on the back between the two numbers. This jersey shows light game use and comes with a COA from Ken Griffey, Jr. authenticating the use and signature of the jersey by him.
