The 1998 New York Yankees set a franchise record with a 114 regular season wins and continued the dominance into the playoffs as they knocked off Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres to capture the franchise’s 24th World Series Title and started what would be three consecutive World Series titles.

Stump Merrill was the manager of the AAA Columbus Clippers, the Yankees highest level farm team, in 1998. Presented here is Stump Merrill’s 1998 World Series ring, which features 24 beautiful diamonds that make up the team’s famed interlocking “NY” logo, set on a navy blue background. Surrounding the logo are another 24 diamonds. The number of diamonds is a representation of 1998 being the 24th World Series championship in franchise history. The outer perimeter of the ring reads “WORLD CHAMPIONS 1998”. The left shank of the ring reads “125-50” followed by the Yankees logo, and the words “BEST EVER” below the logo. This signifies the team’s win-loss record that season, including the playoffs, which resulted in a record for most wins in a single season. The right side of the ring features the name “MERRILL” and the World Series trophy in the foreground of Yankee Stadium, with the word “TRADITION” underneath that. “Balfour” (the ring producer) appears on the inside of the band, along with “10K”, which is the weight of the gold. Ring size is approximately 9 ¼ and weighs approximately 32 ½ grams. Also accompanying this item is a 3 ½ x 3 ½ x 2 inch wooden presentation box that has etched “New York Yankees” the interlocking “NY” logo and “1998 World Champions” outlined in a box. This item comes with a LOA from Stump Merrill who acknowledges in his LOA “that this is my original one and only 1998 New York Yankee World Series ring given to me by the Yankee Organization.”
