Presented here is a pencil sketch of Marilyn Monroe created by the notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Gacy was responsible for the murder of over 30 young men during the 1970’s, burying their bodies in the crawlspace, attic, and other areas of his home. As a widely respected figure of his community and the owner of a prosperous contracting company, Gacy was able to go about his normal life while becoming one of the most prolific serial killers of the 20th century. While a death row inmate during the 1980’s, Gacy began creating and selling artwork, which often depicted him as the terrifying character “Pogo the Clown”. During his years in the Midwest, Gacy often dressed as a clown for children’s parties, earning him the epithet “The Killer Clown”.
This sketch, done in pencil, shows Marilyn Monroe laughing, her hair cascading down her shoulders. It is done on 12 x 17 inch graph paper, with the squares on the top and down the right side numbered in gray pencil. Gacy signed the bottom right corner of this paper in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Y08455).
