In 1955, the Philadelphia Athletics moved west, settling in Kansas City, Missouri, under the new ownership of Arnold Johnson. The motives for the move were unclear at the time, and many around baseball alleged collusion with the New York Yankees, as Johnson previously owned Yankee Stadium. This book, “The Kansas City Athletics” by Ernest Mehl, attempts to unravel the mystery of the A’s move to Kansas City. It has been signed by numerous players and managers, including Hall of Famers Casey Stengel and Whitey Herzog, who each signed the book twice. Stengel inscribed “KC” on his first signature and “Hall of Famer” under his second. Other signatures include Roger Maris, who inscribed “To Terry / Good Luck”, and Dick Hall. The signatures have been written in black and blue pen. This book, which is in fair condition, comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
