Presented here is a signed hardcover copy of the book “Umpiring from the Inside” by Hall of Fame umpire Billy Evans. Evans began his career in 1906 at the age of 22, becoming the youngest umpire in Major League history. He demanded respect from the players he worked with, and was selected to umpire in six World Series. In 1921, he famously engaged in a fistfight with Ty Cobb after Evans made a call the Tigers Hall of Famer disagreed with. He published “Umpiring from the Inside” in 1947. The book is bound in dark red, with the text on the front printed in green. Evans signed the first page of this book in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
