Before Babe Ruth came along, Ty Cobb was the undisputed greatest player in baseball history. His career batting average of .366 remains the highest of all-time, and his 4,189 career hits are the most of all-time by any player in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Cobb won 12 batting titles between 1907 and 1919, and put together three seasons with a batting average north of .400. A true legend of the sport, Cobb’s abrasive and combative personality has come to define him almost as much as his undeniable greatness on the diamond. In 1936, Cobb was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot, with a staggering 98.2% of the vote, the most of all-time until Tom Seaver in 1992.
This book is title “Ty Cobb: The Idol of Baseball Fandom”. It is by the author Sverre O. Braathen. Cobb signed this book in black pen, writing “To My Pal Billy From” in addition to his signature, which he wrote in this book as “Uncle Ty”. This hardcover book comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC02980).
