Presented here is a 1963 Sandy Koufax autographed Life magazine in a 16x20 framed display. The magazine cover is of Koufax putting on his Los Angeles Dodgers cap in full color. The heading on the magazine has the “LIFE” logo and the title “ECLIPSE IN COLOR: A PERFECT VIEW The Mostest Pitcher: Most Wins, Most Shutouts, Most strike-outs.” Between Koufax’s left hand and the left side of his jaw are the words “The Dodger’s Sandy Koufax”. Koufax is easily one of the greatest pitchers of all time and played for the Dodgers his entire career that lasted 12 seasons and was the youngest player ever elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Unfortunately at the height of his powers Koufax had to discontinue his reign due to arthritis in his left elbow. Koufax, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, and Nolan Ryan are the only four pitchers elected to the Hall of Fame who had more strikeouts than innings pitched. The only blemish on this piece is a small tear on the bottom right corner of the magazine, but it does not detract from the quality of the signature. This lot comes with a COA from JSA (S21408).
