Graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by PSA. Hall of Famer. This is one of just four examples at its tier (with five graded higher) among a total of nearly 1,600 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting. Only in 1955 Bowman do the incredibly deep border colors – extending all the way to each edge and corner – highlight the central subject in such charming fashion. On this specimen, the "Color TV" framework is perfectly preserved with barely a fiber askew to connote past circulation. Mays' likeness positively beams with intensity and precision in detail, and lovely gloss permeates the card's aesthetic. Centering of cardfront features is outstanding, and the item's reverse is notably well-printed. Mays' 1955 Bowman card in high grade is clearly one of his rarest, and the offered example approaches flawlessness. Near Mint to Mint-plus condition, and one of the very few Willie Mays examples from the condition-sensitive '55 Bowman issue to attain such a lofty designation.
