In 1974 Hank Aaron did what many thought impossible by tying Babe Ruth’s career home run record. Aaron launched number 714 with his first swing of the ’74 season, taking Cincinnati Reds pitcher Jack Billingham yard to reach the hallowed mark. Aaron would go on to hit 41 more home runs, finishing his major league career with an astonishing 755 round trippers, a record that would stand until Barry Bonds eclipsed his mark in 2007. This newspaper article is from the New York Daily News and features a picture of Aaron clubbing his record home run. The headline, in bold black text, reads “Aaron Hits 714, Ties The Babe”. Aaron signed the page in between the two lines of the headline in black pen. This item comes with a COA from Steiner Sports.
