Joe Medwick and Leo Durocher were teammates on one of the best teams in baseball history, the “Gashouse Gang” St. Louis Cardinals of 1934. They were teammates in St. Louis for five seasons, and later in Brooklyn for a handful of summers. While Durocher was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame for his prowess primarily as a manager, Medwick earned his induction from his skill with a bat. In 1937, Medwick became the most recent player to win the National League Triple Crown, leading the Senior Circuit in homers (31), RBI (154), and batting average (.374), as well as doubles, hits, runs, total bases, and slugging percentage. Medwick, who also holds the NL single-season doubles record (64 in 1936), retired in 1948, with a .324 batting average, 10 All-Star appearances, and the 1937 NL MVP award.

Durocher signed the sweet spot of this ball, which bears no manufacturers markings or league president stamp. He added an inscription, which reads, “To [illegible] / My Pal”. Medwick signed the north panel of this red-stitched ball. The signatures have been written in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Y99194).
