Rudy May had one of the best years of his career in 1980, recording a 15-5 record at the age of 35. May started 17 games, appearing in 41 total, and leading the American League with a 2.46 ERA. May helped lead the Yankees to an American League Championship Series appearance, throwing a complete game in Game 2, a 3-2 Yankee loss.

This white, pinstriped button down home jersey was worn by May during the 1980 season and has the Yankees interlocking “NY” logo sewn on the left chest in navy blue tackle twill. May’s number “45” is sewn on the back of the jersey in navy blue tackle twill. A “May 80 2” swatch is sewn on the back inside collar of the jersey. A Wilson size “44” tag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. There is evidence of the Thurman Munson memorial armband having been removed from the left sleeve. May has signed the jersey in black marker beneath the “NY” logo. There is some staining on the back tail of the jersey. According to noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema, “inconsistency of the appliqué on 45 vis-à-vis ‘NY’ indicates restoration of [the] correct number”. This jersey shows moderate wear, and comes with a LOA from Dave Miedema for game use and a LOA from PSA/DNA for the signature (AC02961).
