1951 was a watershed year for the New York Yankees as Joe DiMaggio, one of the greatest players in the history of the game, played his final season. Luckily for the Yankees, a young, Oklahoma-born outfielder named Mickey Mantle made his debut in ’51, showing the world that the Yankees had a ready-made replacement for DiMaggio in center field. A plethora of Hall of Famers, including Yogi Berra, Johnny Mize, and Phil Rizzuto, helped the Yankees claim the American League pennant with a 98-56 record, setting up a cross-town matchup with the New York Giants in the World Series. The Yankees handled the Giants in six games, granting DiMaggio his ninth, and third consecutive, World Series title. The Yankees would also win the next two World Series for an unprecedented run of five consecutive championships.

This Official American League William Harridge baseball has been signed by 25 of the 1951 Yankees in steel-tip black fountain pen. The signature of Joe DiMaggio is located on the sweet spot, while other Hall of Fame signatures include Mantle, Rizzuto, and Mize. Please note that the signature of Berra has been deemed a clubhouse version. Other signatures include Hank Bauer, Billy Martin, Bobby Hogue, Joe Ostrowski, Tom Morgan, Vic Raschi, Joe Collins, Stubby Overmire, Bob Kuzava, Johnny Sain, Gil McDougald, Art Schallock, Spec Shea, Gene Woodling, Bobby Brown, Charlie Silvera, Allie Reynolds, Jerry Coleman, and Ed Lopat. This baseball comes with a LOA from JSA (X56228).
