This 16 x 20 inch photograph shows Muhammad Ali lighting the Olympic Torch during the Opening Ceremonies of the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. Ali was an Olympian in 1960, winning a gold medal in the boxing competitions in Rome, and he returned to Atlanta to continue the Olympic legacy. Despite the Parkinson’s Disease that limited his movements, Ali was an inspiration to the millions watching the Opening Ceremonies on TV when he lit the torch. Ali has signed this color photograph in blue marker. It comes with a LOA from JSA (X99492).
