David Ortiz wore this cap during the Boston Red Sox July 26th, 2016 contest against the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park. The game was a thrilling affair, with the Red Sox falling just short of a victory by the score of 9-8. Ortiz was the Red Sox offensive catalyst in this game, crushing a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning against Tigers starter Mike Pelfrey. This was the 528th home run of Ortiz’s illustrious career, which ended after the 2016 season. The three-time World Series champ finished his final campaign with 38 home runs, a .315 batting average, and American League best marks of 48 doubles and 127 RBI. In 2017, the Red Sox retired Big Papi’s number “34” in a moving pregame ceremony.

This navy hat has the Red Sox “B” logo applied to the front and a MLB logo on the back. MLB, New Era, and size “7 ¾” tags are sewn in the back of the hat. Ortiz’s number “34” is written on the inside of the hat in black marker. He signed the top of the brim in crisp silver marker. This item comes with both a MLB Authenticated hologram (JC 098291) and a Fanatics Authenticated hologram (ZZ0052432).
