As baseball legend goes, Honus Wagner objected to his likeness being displayed as a tobacco advertisement on the legendary T206 Wagner card. We do not know, however, if he objected to his name and likeness gracing this gorgeous “Honus Wagner, King of the Diamond” cigar box. This box was manufactured circa 1910, placing it in the same time frame as the historic card. A “King of the Diamond” label is located on the lid of this brown box, and a large label with a portrait of the great Pirates shortstop is applied to the inside of the lid. A smaller label, also with a portrait of Wagner, is applied on one side of the box. This box, which shows some signs of age, measures 4.25 x 11 x 5.5 inches. It is a tremendous, exceedingly rare, display piece worthy of the same respect handed to its cardboard counterpart.
