Led by a stingy defense that gave up just 18.3 points per game (eighth-lowest in the country), the Rutgers University football team went 8-4 during the 2011 regular season under head coach Greg Schiano. The successful campaign earned the Scarlet Knights a trip to the Pinstripe Bowl – played in Yankee Stadium – where Rutgers would defeat Iowa State, 27-13. Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was an unstoppable force, catching 115 balls for 1,206 yards and 7 TDs during the regular season, while running back Jawan Jamison rushed for 897 yards and 9 touchdowns and quarterback Gary Nova threw for 1,553 yards and 11 TDs.
Offered here is a 2011 Rutgers University New Era Pinstripe Bowl ring. The face displays the New Era Pinstripe Bowl logo, highlighted in blue enamel, and surrounded by CZs. “NOVA” is displayed above a depiction of Yankee Stadium on one shank, with the Rutgers “R” in a football down below. Centering the other side of the band are images of Iowa State and Rutgers helmets, appearing between the Big East and Big 12 Conference logos. “NEW ERA PINSTRIPE BOWL” appears at the top and “2011” is shown at the bottom. Engraved inside the band is Nova’s name as well as the Balfour stamp and “CEL” (Celestrium). This approximate size 11 ring weighs approximately 32.5 grams.
