Offered here is a 1999 Rochester Rhinos U.S. Open Cup Championship 10K gold ring, commemorating their historic – if not miraculous – accomplishment. The Rhinos, who were a second-division club, incredibly won four consecutive matches over MLS teams to capture the U.S. Open Cup. The Rhinos improbable run was capped by a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids in the championship game. It was quite a memorable ending to soccer’s 1999 U.S. Open Cup, the first in its history to be named for Lamar Hunt, the principal founder of Major League Soccer (MLS).

The face of this ring displays an image of a soccer ball (set on a black onyx stone) with a larger diamond in the center, surrounded by 10 smaller diamonds. A small emerald appears on both the left and right side. Total weights of the gems are approximately 28 points in diamonds and 10 points in emeralds. “U.S. OPEN CUP CHAMPIONS” appears around the bezel. The U.S. Open Cup logo and the year 1999 are displayed on the ring’s left shank, while the name “ZMUDA” (staff member Michael Zmuda) and the team logo appear on the opposite side of the band. Inside the band is engraved MJZ (the recipient’s initials) and the date 9-14-99, as well as a 10K stamp. Ring size is an approximate 13 ½ with the weight approximately 40.5 grams. This item comes with the owner's original purchase LOA.
